The objective of the course is to acquire a suitable cultural background to identify, interpret and manage, in a reasoned manner, the basic pediatric problems, with particular reference to the range 0-6.

At the end of the course the student:

- has acquired basic knowledge about knowledge and skills of pediatrics and the psychomotor, psychic, emotional and social development of the child.

1. Introduction to general paediatrics: characteristics and peculiarities
2. The Developmental Ages of Paediatrics: psychomotor development, notes on anatomy and physiology, characteristics of early and middle childhood children
3. Teething
4. Pediatric nutrition: breastfeeding and formula feeding, complementary feeding, self-weaning, the importance of the Mediterranean diet as a healthy lifestyle
5. Nutrition as an important relationship tool
6. The development of organic and psychic language bases
7. Language delay
8. Physiology of sleep in early and middle childhood
9. Children with special needs (autistic, with Down syndrome, diabetes, with congenital pathologies, hyperactive, etc.)
10. Mono or dizygotic twins
11. Children with disadvantaged families or family conflicts, bereavements, divorces
12. New family models
13. Functional and dysfunctional families, parenting
14. Fever and pain: notes on physiology. How to measure fever and what you need to know how to do
15. What you need to know about febrile convulsions
16. Pediatric emergencies: fever, cough, cold, rashes and skin rashes, trauma, abrasions and wounds, sunburn, sunstroke and heatstroke, accidental ingestion of a foreign body, what you need to know how to do (theoretical and practical part with exercise)

18. Hygiene of early and middle childhood children, oral hygiene, use of creams and diapers, clothing
