The aim of the course is to provide the student with an acceptable level of knowledge related to the pronunciation, grammar and basic vocabulary as well as the basic syntactic structures of the French language.
At the end of the course the student has acquired the ability to orientate himself in the understanding of texts written in French concerning the subjects of the degree course, the subject of European citizen training and / or intercultural exchange in the French-speaking area.

The 54-hour / 9 credits course (36 for 6 credits) will take place in the second semester.
On an experimental basis, the course will use the help of the DUOLINGO language learning platform. In order to understand its operation aimed at the preparation of the French Language course by gradually starting to increase prerequisites BEFORE the beginning of the course, the Lecturer proposes a meeting in the first semester via TEAMS platform (preferably in October 2023) to discuss it and give some directions. Continued intensive use of DUOLINGO may be considered valid for exemption from a grammar part of the exam. To activate this mode, interested students please write to me as soon as possible at my email marina.geat@uniroma3.it
Students of other degree programs will attend the course for the number of hours / credits (or study a proportionally reduced program agreed with the teacher) as provided for in the organization of their degree program.
The commitment to attend the course must be undertaken in a rigorous and continuous manner, as a structured study path, ongoing checks, individual and group work with weekly deadlines is envisaged.
By attending students we mean those who are present at at least 2/3 of the course hours and who regularly participate in all activities, individual and collective, both carried out in person and carried out through the Formonline multimedia platform.
Anyone who, for any reason, cannot ensure this continuity of attendance and / or participation, can equally attend the course by reporting their particular situation to the teacher and in any case referring to the program and the exam provided for non-attending students.
The course includes the study of the fundamental structures of the French language (pronunciation, vocabulary, grammar, syntax) applying them to specific exercises and to the reading, comprehension, re-elaboration, deepening, written and oral, of texts on topics of interest to the sciences education. For students of the degree course in sociology, particular attention will be paid to learning the vocabulary inherent to the historical and sociological analysis of issues inherent to the world of Perrault and to the comparison with contemporary problems in the French and Francophone world.
Reading texts, materials for the exercise of comprehension, for the use of linguistic and grammatical skills, for listening and oral practice will be provided during the course and available through the formonline platform.

The course will be carried out in a joint traditional and distance way. In addition to the lessons in the classroom there will be activities and deepening, guided by the teacher, carried out on the online platform Formonline. The exam will be written and oral. The student will have to demonstrate a good knowledge of the topics on the program (sufficient command of written and oral French, knowledge of the main grammatical topics, ability to understand and reflect in the language on the texts studied during the course and on other similar texts that they will have to demonstrate understanding using the language skills acquired). Students who need to achieve 9 credits will bring additional work to be agreed with the teacher. Attending students will also be assessed through the activities carried out during the course.
