The course aims to provide knowledge about the contexts and theories related to the psychology of work, forming the skills to analyze work behaviour and to interpret the complexity of the individual, structural, cultural, economic and social factors that influence and determine such work behaviour.
With the study of the Psychology of work the student will be able to achieve the following educational objectives.
In terms of knowledge and comprehension:
- to know the main theories of occupational psychology;
- acquire the theoretical and epistemological foundations of research applied to work contexts;
- to know the main methodological approaches used in the field of occupational psychology.
In terms of ability to apply knowledge and understanding:
- to be able to identify the needs of actors and stakeholders in the field of occupational psychology;
- to know how to define the main lines of a project of analysis of the working context;
- to be able to select procedures and techniques according to the objects and objectives of the analysis of the working context.
In terms of autonomy of judgement:
- identify the relationship between personal dynamics and decision making at the level of work organisation;
- identify the relationship between psychological elements and organizational policies;
- recognise the function of professional competence in relation to organisational culture.
In terms of communication skills:
- Being able to critically analyse the language used in the work context;
- Being able to elaborate a plan for the analysis of organizational needs.
In terms of learning ability:
- deepen one's knowledge using texts of a manualistic and scientific nature in the sector.

In the first part of the course, an overview of the history of the discipline will be presented, highlighting the plurality of fields of investigation and intervention: study of work contexts; labor market dynamics; recent changes in work and organizations.
The second part will analyze the evolution of the main constructs, with a focus on some practical issues characterizing the current work contexts. In particular, the thematic insights will concern: motivation at work and meanings attributed to work; work socialization; job analysis; safety at work; emotions and stress in the workplace; counterproductive behaviors in work contexts.
The slides presented during the lectures are part of the course syllabus. Therefore, they will be included in the exam.

Modalità Erogazione
The course will consist of 36 hours of lectures, supported by slides, audio-video materials and scientific articles. Classes will be based on a strong interaction between teacher and students, group discussions and group works. Attending and non-attending students can register on the course page on the "Formonline" platform and access the slides and other teaching materials used during the classes.Modalità Frequenza
Attendance is not compulsory but highly recommended.Modalità Valutazione
The final evaluation will be carried out through an oral exam with minimum three questions on the topics included in the full syllabus. Each answer is rated with a score from 0 to 30 and the overall rating is calculated as a mathematical average. Aspects of knowledge and ability to reason and methodological choice in relation to the application hypothesis, together with the language property, will be considered. The oral questions test the students' ability to understand and communicate both general and specific concepts of the discipline, including analytical and methodological aspects. In case of an extension of the health emergency related to COVID-19, the exam will take place through an audio-video conference with the use of the Microsoft Teams software.
